All of this week we have been reading about the aftermath, of those that were affected by the IT meltdown that happened within British Airways. This was a reputable brand that caused travel chaos for 75,000 passengers worldwide, after their UPS malfunctioned cutting off all power supplies. As the airline have being desperately trying to retain their good image, it’s fair to say this might take time so claw back their reputation with some of their clients.
The situation that happened to BA last Saturday is a prime example of how delicate B2C relationships are! When customers have faith in a brand, they expect their business to be held with a duty of care. As a profitable business you in turn want to give them consistent customer satisfaction to retain their brand loyalty. All operations need to be carefully thought out and executed to the highest standards. Back up plans should be in place in case anything goes wrong, and if you’re working to an allotted time frame contingency plans makes for good business practises.
