In Australia alone, over 19 million tonnes of construction/demolition waste goes to landfill every year of which approximately 10.5 million tonnes or 55% is recovered and re-used. Furthermore, these numbers do not include the large volume of construction overage and re-useable materials that are stored prior to the landfill with the intention of future use. In most cases, however, these materials are not re-used, remain in storage indefinitely and are ultimately disposed of at a later date. The process of transportation, storage, and subsequent disposal is costly, time-consuming and ineffective. Understanding that this current process is inefficient and that a large portion of construction waste that goes to landfill is re-useable there is the need for an effective alternative. Hence Tradie Trade. Tradie Trade is a Mobile Application that seeks to re-purpose and re-distribute high quality, construction overage and re-usable materials to the Home Renovation and DIY market, prior to it being deposited in a landfill. Via the platform, Tradesmen has the option to trade their overages and re-useable materials with local Home Renovators / DIY’ers – and are rewarded for doing so. This mitigates the time, cost and need for unnecessary storage and disposal. For Tradesman, the result is a simple, easy and cost-effective alternative to the storage and disposal of ‘waste’. For the consumer, a direct connection with previously inaccessible, high quality, construction materials at fraction of the retail cost.
What was the scope of the project involved?
The Project involved a full complete iOS & Android app build. From initial briefing to the minimal viable product to a live and working app in the app stores today. We had a great Project Manager and spent numerous Skype calls and emails back and forward to get this project up and running. From briefing to workshopping and then weekly WIP's and updates during the build and deployment stages.
