AR & VR – The new age tech that’s revolutionising the Education System!

Last updated on April 24, 2018 by Dotsquares

Education has always been one of the most concerned sectors for all communities. It is the foreground that lays the foundation for the future generations.

This particular topic has always kept people around the globe in apprehension about the present situations in their local areas, which in comparison to the pace of increasing complexities of the ‘real-world’, is growing at a sluggish pace.

In our previous post on how AR is attempting to bring more favourable changes  to the industry, we mentioned that after a series of researches and studies, analysts have already come to a conclusion that to solve the problem, one effective solution is to make education completely interactive.

AR is one of the many current technologies that can help us achieve that. In fact, the mere inclusion of digital devices like iPads and tablets will help us bridge the gap more efficiently, a possibility that Apple has already addressed in its latest education event in Chicago.

However, it is evident that these are not the only two ways through which technology can help us achieve our goals with education. Contemporary tech like AI, Blockchain and IoT, and maybe even Big Data can also help us revolutionise the education sector with more conducive outcomes.

How Can AI Help Make Education Better?

The greatest contribution from AI in education would be in making it more personalised. We know that every student learns at a distinct pace even if exposed to the same content. AI with its evolving algorithms will learn about the individual’s aptitude, and then present the educational content as best suit his or her learning capabilities.

Many eLearning agencies are already working with such modules and are witnessing visible improvements in the learning behaviour of the students, this has been particularly noticeable in pupils that have learning disabilities. Students with conditions like Autism can reap huge benefits with more personal approaches in education, which in the future may even help to align them with the mainstream process of education for all individuals alike.

IoT in Education

Smart classrooms are increasingly becoming smarter with the growing use of advanced applications in the field. Though many institutes have already revamped their system with classrooms that have projectors, whiteboards, laptops, tablets, and a seating arrangement that promotes interaction and collaborative learning, there is still a scope for alot more.

The most effective solution, for smart classes at least, comes with the application of IoT. Use of connected devices in class will have far-reaching benefits than the simple use of tablets and laptops. A connected environment in classrooms will not only promote personalised learning for students, but will also help the faculty in the performance management and monitoring of their class.

VR in the game

We have already witnessed the repeated application of AR in education and its subsequent benefits. However VR is yet to explore its full potential within the sector. It is evident how devices like Microsoft Hololens can further evolve teaching methods, by creating a simulated learning environment that may not even exist in the real world.

The ongoing debate on the improvement of present education systems is regularly dealt with by responsible authorities, however lack of resources has always curbed the possibilities. Although with the advent of the new era of advanced technologies, we seem to have all the resources at our disposal. The only remaining dearth, therefore, is that of willingness and proper strategy, things that are completely in our hands. So does that mean the new education revolution is right there on the horizon? Seems like it is, and the upcoming change would be completely rejuvenating if not entirely transforming.
