ServiceNow Brazil Release 2026: Top Features You Should Know
Tech

Brazil is only the second release in ServiceNow's new country-naming era, and it is not just a name change. Several of the agentic AI capabilities that have been in early or opt-in preview throughout 2026 are making the move toward becoming the default way developers and AI agents build and work on the platform.

After 14 years of alphabetical city names, Aspen through Zurich, ServiceNow opened a new naming convention in 2026 with the Australia release (GA: May 5, 2026). Brazil follows as Q4 2026, with Early Availability from September 24 and General Availability expected in November. If you are planning upgrades or evaluating what is worth testing in your environment first, here is a clear breakdown of what matters in Brazil.

1. Build Agent - Now the Default, Not the Preview

Build Agent has been available as an opt-in feature for several months. In the Brazil release, it stops being something you turn on and becomes part of the standard development environment. For organisations using ServiceNow development services, two changes define what that means in practice.

Automatic Upgrades

  • Instances running Brazil Patch 0 or later, Australia Patch 5 or later, or Zurich Patch 12 or later now receive new Build Agent versions automatically when published to the ServiceNow Store
  • No manual upgrade steps, no version tracking overhead for admins; the tool keeps itself current

ServiceNow IDE Merged Into Studio

  • The ServiceNow IDE, previously a separate development environment, is now folded into Studio, one unified coding interface for platform development
  • Developers can open Studio directly from the platform with an "Open in Studio" shortcut, removing the context-switching that used to break the development flow
  • Playbook generation is available inside Studio from Brazil Early Availability onwards

Important:To access the full Brazil Build Agent experience, including the new AI Workflow Factory features, you need the AI Workflow Factory SKU alongside the Brazil Early Availability release. A Build Agent entitlement alone does not unlock everything in this release.

2. Autonomous Engineer - From Preview to Structural Feature

Autonomous Engineer is the agent-side counterpart to Build Agent. Where Build Agent helps human developers work faster, AI development services can now extend into AI agents that can themselves build, modify, and test ServiceNow configurations.  In Brazil, it moves further from preview positioning toward a structural part of how the platform handles development tasks.

  • AI agents can now handle multi-step development workflows, writing code, running tests, iterating on failures, without a human initiating each step
  • The Brazil release deepens the integration between Autonomous Engineer and the Now Platform's existing deployment and testing infrastructure
  • For organisations with high development throughput, the combination of Build Agent and Autonomous Engineer in Brazil significantly changes the human-to-output ratio on platform builds

3. Fluent DSL and Now SDK - Expanded APIs and CI/CD Capability

The Fluent domain-specific language and Now SDK position themselves as "metadata as code", a way for both human developers and AI agents to interact with the ServiceNow platform programmatically rather than through the UI.. Brazil expands this surface significantly, supportingcustom software development workflows with greater flexibility and automation.

Five New APIs

  • RestMessage - programmatic control over outbound REST integrations
  • Alias and AliasTemplate - managing named references across configurations
  • RetryPolicy - defining retry behaviour for integration and workflow steps without manual configuration
  • DataLookup - structured data resolution within Fluent workflows

CLI Capabilities

  • New CLI commands for CI/CD pipelines, query instance state, explain configurations, and automate deployment checks without opening the UI
  • These CLI additions are particularly relevant for teams running Dotsquares-style multi-instance deployments where automated pipeline health checks are part of the standard process

4. Action Fabric - Open Platform for External AI Agents

Action Fabric was announced at Knowledge 2026 and matures further in Brazil. It is the feature that makes ServiceNow's platform accessible to AI agents that were not built on ServiceNow, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, customer-built agents, or any agent that can connect via Model Context Protocol (MCP).

What It Does

  • Exposes ServiceNow workflows, approval chains, and business rules to external AI agents through the ServiceNow MCP Server, which is now generally available
  • Allows any external agent to trigger governed enterprise actions inside ServiceNow without requiring that agent to be built natively on the platform
  • Removes vendor lock-in from the workflow automation question, organisations can pick the AI agent that suits their use case, and Action Fabric connects it to ServiceNow's system of record and action

Why It Matters for Integration Work

For teams handling ServiceNow integration services, Action Fabric changes the scope of what is connectable. Any AI system with MCP support can now become a ServiceNow workflow participant, which expands both the possibilities and the governance considerations for platform architects.

5. AI Control Tower - Expanded Governance Across All Agents

The AI Control Tower first expanded significantly in the Australia release. Brazil builds on that foundation with a focus on cross-agent governance, observability, cost tracking, and policy enforcement across AI agents regardless of where they were built. This strengthens ServiceNow data governance by providing greater visibility and control across the AI environment.

  • Agent discovery - identify and catalogue all AI agents operating across your enterprise environment, including those built outside ServiceNow
  • Observability - monitor agent activity, trace decisions, and track model spend across your AI estate in one dashboard
  • Value measurement - tools to measure actual business outcomes from AI agent activity, not just usage metrics
  • Autonomous Security and Risk - built on top of the Armis and Veza acquisitions, this gives real-time contextual awareness of every agent, identity, and connected asset, with automated risk posture assessment

For enterprise teams managing a growing mix of ServiceNow-native agents, external agents, and custom automation, the Brazil-era Control Tower is the governance layer that keeps the whole estate visible and controllable.

6. Collaborative Work Management (CWM) - Otto Task Generation

For teams using CWM for project and programme delivery, Brazil introduces two Otto-powered capabilities that reduce the manual work of turning unstructured information into trackable tasks.

Otto Task Generation From Unstructured Content

  • Teams can now feed meeting notes, planning documents, or PDFs into CWM and have Otto extract and create structured tasks automatically, no manual transcription of action items
  • Cross-platform alignment improves because tasks created from the same source document are immediately visible in the shared CWM environment

Otto Child Task Generation

  • Any CWM task can be split into smaller, assignable child tasks with a single click, Otto generates the sub-task structure rather than requiring leads to draft each one manually
  • Available with CWM Advanced or CWM Professional Plus

7. Developer Sandbox and Testing Environment

Brazil introduces improvements to Developer Sandboxes specifically targeted at the development and testing lifecycle, reducing the gap between building something and being able to test it in a realistic environment.

  • Personal Developer Instances (PDIs) on Brazil are expected from September 24, 2026, developers can start testing Brazil features on their own instance without waiting for a shared environment
  • The Developer Passport sessions running through September provide structured walkthroughs of the most significant Brazil changes, a practical resource for developers preparing for the November GA

What Should You Be Preparing for Now?

With Brazil Early Availability live from September 24 and GA in November, there are a few things worth doing now rather than waiting.

  • Check your licensing for AI Workflow Factory - several of the most significant Build Agent features in Brazil require this SKU, and finding out you need it after GA delays your access to the features you were planning around
  • Review your Studio and IDE setup - if your team has separate IDE configurations outside Studio, the merge in Brazil means reviewing how that affects your current development workflow before the upgrade hits
  • Assess your agent governance position - if you have more than a handful of AI agents running, the Brazil AI Control Tower features are the right time to formalise your discovery, observability, and policy framework rather than retrofitting governance after the fact
  • Evaluate Action Fabric compatibility - if you have external AI systems that could benefit from ServiceNow workflow access, the Brazil MCP Server GA makes this viable now in a way it was not previously
  • Run the Upgrade Center - ServiceNow's Upgrade Center flags compatibility issues specific to your instance and configuration before you commit to the upgrade. For Brazil, given the depth of changes around Build Agent and Autonomous Engineer, running this early is sensible

Conclusion

Brazil is a release where the architecture decisions made at Knowledge 2026 start showing up as production-ready features. For teams already invested in ServiceNow development, the Build Agent and Autonomous Engineer maturity, the expanded Fluent DSL, and the Control Tower governance improvements are worth understanding before November GA, not as things to evaluate in a hurry once the release lands.
