The Challenge

  • Uncertainty in Hosting Strategy for Alarm Receiver Integration
    There was no predefined approach for hosting the alarm receiver system required to capture real-time notifications from third-party software, creating challenges in ensuring reliable communication.

  • Hardware and Software Communication Gaps
    The hardware panel was not directly communicating with the alarm receiver software, leading to integration difficulties and delays in receiving alarm signals.

  • Lack of Direct SDK Integration from Hardware Provider
    The hardware provider did not offer a direct SDK for integration, as they operated through their own data center and proprietary alarm receiver system, limiting direct system connectivity.
     
  • Difficulty in Capturing Real-Time Alarm Notifications
    Without a standard integration method, capturing alarm notifications in real-time and processing them within the application was a major technical challenge.

  • Dependency on Third-Party Infrastructure
    Reliance on external systems for alarm data introduced constraints around control, flexibility, and performance optimization.

The Solution

  • Cloud VM-Based Hosting for Unified Communication
    Deployed the alarm receiver software on a cloud-based virtual machine (VM), enabling both the third-party alarm receiver and the application server to run on the same environment for seamless communication.

  • Network Configuration for Secure Communication
    Configured inbound and outbound firewall rules to establish secure and stable communication between hardware devices and the hosted software system.

  • TCP Listener for Alarm Data Capture
    Developed a custom TCP listener to receive alarm notifications forwarded by the third-party system via IP-based message forwarding.

  • Custom Processing with Business Logic Integration
    Implemented backend logic to process incoming alarm data in real-time, transforming raw messages into actionable alerts within the application.

  • Optimized Third-Party System Integration
    Leveraged the third-party provider’s message forwarding capability to bridge the gap between hardware and application, ensuring continuous and reliable alarm data flow.
