The Client

VenueMap is a specialist venue-finding service for corporate events, meetings, parties, etc., primarily in London and major European cities. The platform helps users discover and compare venues by providing map-based browsing, curated collections of venues, user reviews/testimonials, and direct brief submission to venues. It targets professional event planners, corporate clients, and individuals seeking premium or unique event spaces.

The Challenge

  • Difficulty for users to visually compare venues by location. Listing pages without a map made the location less intuitive.
  • Complex search requirements: venue type, capacity, event setup, etc., needed more robust filtering.
  • Users wanted to shortlist options and send their event briefs, but the process was fragmented.
  • Trusted content (testimonials, collections, curated suggestions) was under-emphasised, affecting user confidence.
  • Mobile usability & performance might have been sub-optimal.
  • Venue owners needed to have visibility and be discovered easily by event planners.

The Solution

Designed and implemented a visually engaging, map-based browsing experience, so users can search by geography and see nearby options.

Built advanced filtering options: by capacity, setup style (Boardroom, Classroom, Theatre, Reception, etc.), location, and venue type.

Added user account features: wishlists (save favourite venues), user profiles, “send brief” to multiple venues, so planners can streamline communication.

Created curated collections (e.g. “Conference Venues”, “Christmas Party Collection”, etc.) to help users explore by occasion or theme.

Incorporated strong social proof: client testimonials, trusted partners, experience metrics (“Over 20 years”, “100s of events booked”, “Coverage in European cities”) to build trust.

Ensured responsive design: layout adjusts cleanly for mobile, tablet, and desktop. Optimised images, streamlined front-end code for fast load.

SEO / content strategy: structured content, clear CTA’s (List your Venue, Contact, etc.), meaningful metadata, better internal linking.

The Results

  • Increased user engagement: more time on site, more pages per session, more saved wishlists.
  • Higher conversion: more brief submissions/enquiries from customers.
  • Improved mobile metrics: lower bounce rates, better performance as measured via tools like Google PageSpeed or Lighthouse.
  • Venue owners who list more often get more exposure.
  • More trust from prospective clients, thanks to testimonials, proven track record, and curated content.
