Salesforce's flagship annual event wrapped up in San Francisco with one of the most product-heavy keynotes in Dreamforce's history. 53,000 attendees at Moscone Center, 10 million watching live on Salesforce+, and a set of announcements that mark a clear shift in what Salesforce is, not a CRM you log into, but a data and AI platform that goes wherever your teams already work.
If you missed the keynote or want to cut through the noise and understand what actually matters for businesses already using Salesforce, here is the complete breakdown.
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff opened Dreamforce 2026 by formally declaring the era of what Salesforce calls the Agentic Enterprise, where humans and AI agents work together across company data, applications, and business processes, without being confined to the traditional Salesforce interface. He also dismissed months of industry chatter about AI killing software, calling it "crazy nonsense," and used AIforce to make the argument in product form.
The overall architecture announced at this year's event connects four layers: Data 360 (harmonised data, metadata, and memory as the trusted context for AI), Customer 360 (business logic, processes, permissions, and actions), Agentforce (the agent platform), and the new AIforce layer that pulls all three into external AI interfaces. That is the foundation everything else announced at Dreamforce 2026 sits on.
AIforce is a live interface layer that exposes Salesforce data, workflows, business logic, semantics, permissions, security, and governance to AI interfaces outside the traditional Salesforce UI. Employees can ask questions, update records, and trigger workflows through Claude, Slack, Google Gemini Enterprise, Amazon Q, or other interfaces, while remaining grounded in the permissions and business logic already configured inside Salesforce. AI agents can simultaneously examine information across hundreds of connected records, reason over that data, and take action using Salesforce business logic, all without a user opening the standard CRM dashboard.
AIforce ships in several configurations. Claudeforce runs AIforce inside Claude, Slackforce runs it inside Slack, Agentforce Coworker runs it inside Lightning, an SDK is available for teams building custom interfaces, and AIforce Max Edition bundles everything into a single SKU. Salesforce confirmed zero data retention across every version, customer data is not used to train the underlying models.
ClaudeForce brings Salesforce data and capabilities directly into Claude, built as a pre-configured MCP server with 37 prebuilt sales skills ready from day one. Before the open beta launch, Salesforce and Anthropic were already running ClaudeForce internally as "customer zero," with approximately 4,000 daily active users. It is now available in open beta via AppExchange and Claude's Enterprise Marketplace.
The live keynote demonstration built an entire Salesforce command centre by talking to Claude, no traditional interface, no manual configuration. The demo showed deal signals surfaced by an AI-generated avatar of Salesforce co-founder Parker Harris, a stalled mid-six-figure deal flagged in a security review, and the presenter confirming the account and triggering a Slack message to the team directly from within Claude. The point of the demo was not the individual actions, it was that none of them required leaving Claude or touching a traditional Salesforce screen.
SlackForce evolves Salesforce's earlier Slackbot into a full Salesforce working interface inside Slack. Teams can create records, code with agents, and generate live dashboards without switching platforms. The new addition is Slackforce Surfaces, rich, interactive applications generated directly inside Slack channels, pulling from Salesforce and Slack data in real time.
Agentforce was the centrepiece of last year's Dreamforce. This year it matured from a platform for building agents into a platform for deploying job-ready ones. Understanding the difference between Salesforce Prompt Builder and Agentforce can help businesses determine which capabilities best suit their automation requirements.
Seven specialised agents were introduced at the event:
Each is built for a specific business function with the context, data access, and tooling that role requires, not a generic agent configured for each use case. Beyond the named agents, Salesforce announced four capability expansions that change how Agentforce operates:
First announced in May 2026, Agentforce Coworker gives employees an agentic interface layered directly on top of the standard Salesforce Lightning interface. Staff can ask questions, find information, take action, and hand work to specialised agents without switching tools. 100,000 users adopted it within its first 35 days, a figure Salesforce would not surface unless the early usage data was genuinely strong.
Builder Central shifts Salesforce development from configuration to conversation. Teams describe a business requirement in natural language, Builder Central generates data models, agents, flows, validations, and tests, while coordinating multiple agents across the workflow. For Salesforce administrators without deep developer backgrounds, this reduces the barrier between having a business need and having a working implementation. For developers, it cuts the scaffolding time on standard builds significantly.
Koa is Salesforce's first purpose-built CRM reasoning model, developed with NVIDIA, trained specifically to reason through CRM workflows, make decisions, use tools, and complete tasks step by step, rather than applying a general-purpose model to a domain it was not built for. It is already in pilot with customers including 1-800Accountant, Baxter Credit Union, Formula 1, UChicago Medicine, and Xero. General availability in the US is planned for winter 2026.
Alongside Koa, the Enterprise AI Harness gives enterprise IT and security teams monitoring, tracing, security, and governance capabilities across all AI agents operating within Salesforce. As agent usage scales inside an organisation, this governance layer becomes as operationally important as the agents themselves.
Taken together, the Dreamforce 2026 announcements shift Salesforce from a system your teams go into to a data and AI layer that goes wherever your teams already are. AIforce is what makes that possible architecturally. ClaudeForce and SlackForce are the first expressions of it. Koa is the reasoning engine that makes CRM-specific AI decisions better than a general-purpose model can. And the new Agentforce capabilities, long-horizon execution, multi-agent orchestration, job-ready named agents, move AI from task automation toward genuine digital labour.
For businesses currently running Salesforce, these announcements have practical near-term implications:
Dreamforce 2026 made one thing clear: the next phase of Salesforce is not about adding AI features to a CRM. It is about a CRM whose data, logic, and agents travel into every tool your business uses, and reason over that data with models trained specifically for CRM workflows. That is a meaningfully different product than what Salesforce was twelve months ago.
