Looking back at our Christmas event, it wasn’t just the festive decor that made the day stand out; it was the sheer creative energy sparked by our collaboration with Thumbcorp. We came together for a special session titled "Build a Brand That Scales," an afternoon dedicated to high-level strategy, networking, and a shared vision for what modern branding should look like.
While most year-end events are about winding down, this one was about gearing up. We chose to move beyond standard holiday greetings and instead focus on the core mechanics of sustainable growth. Thumbcorp, recognised as a leading creative agency working with some of the world’s most exciting emerging tech brands, brought a level of intensity and strategic depth that turned a festive gathering into a genuine masterclass.
What made this partnership so unique was the pedigree of the people in the room. Thumbcorp is home to some of the most decorated strategists and creatives in the industry. They recently made headlines for their work repositioning a global De-Fi company that trades over $6 trillion annually. They didn't just talk about branding from a distance; they showed us how they helped a digital-first company take on the traditional finance giants using the exact methodologies we explored during the session.
The atmosphere was anything but corporate. The room was buzzing with questions as we broke down three essential goals for any business looking to lead its market:
It was refreshing and unique to see two very different creative organisations/teams, Dotsquares and Thumbcorp, working collaboratively and inspiring each other's teams to produce great, dynamic and useful products. Both companies had an expectation of collaboration from the start, as each company genuinely valued the quality and usefulness of the insights that they would share with their respective clients. From their perspective, it was not about having two company logos on marketing collateral; rather, it was about how they both brought their strategies together.
Upon further reflection, what I found most interesting is that marketing is not simply a matter of "doing" campaigns or using "technological tools". In fact, the heart of marketing is in the people who make up the "brand team". Marketing is a reflection of their personalities and the stories and experiences they have had; their connection can be very powerful. When the most creative minds from across the industry work together, they are not only exchanging knowledge, but they are also creating a new way of thinking.
Even though this event was held during the Christmas holiday period, the lessons we have learned regarding brand resilience and the ability to grow at a larger scale are lessons that we use on a daily basis within our business. We learned that building a brand requires time, effort and a continued commitment to developing and promoting a brand in a way that consumers remember.
