For over the past year, gamers from all over the world have waited for the news on the latest console from Sony with bated breaths. Finally, their calls were answered this past week when the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), Jim Ryan confirmed that PlayStation 5 is indeed into its development mode and further insights were given into it. So what do we know so far? Let’s find out.
Ryan has confirmed that the PlayStation 5 will launch in ‘Holiday 2020’, which presumably means early December 2020. One of the major developments is the new and improved controller, which Ryan says “We’re adopting haptic feedback to replace the “rumble” technology found in controllers since the 5th generation of consoles. With haptics, you truly feel a broader range of feedback, so crashing into a wall in a race car feels much different than making a tackle on the football field. You can even get a sense for a variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plodding through mud.”
It has also been confirmed that backward compatibility will come in force with the PlayStation 5, which means that older games can be played on the new PS5. It has also been confirmed that PS5 will support 8K gaming, 120hz screen refresh rates and 3D audio. It has also been reported that this is the biggest jump from one console to another.
PS5 is also rumoured to lock horns with the upcoming Xbox 2, which is commonly known as Project Scarlett. We at Dotsquares Inventive Studio will provide regular updates as and when we get them. Watch this space for more.
