Innovation

It was only a short while ago when Artificial Intelligence (AI) entered the sphere of technology, along with all the usual apprehensions, doubts, and overwhelming expectations from society. However since its manifestation, it’s fair to say that the majority of us wouldn’t be able to live without it. AI added with its more advanced version of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning, has become an active part of almost all the contemporary advancements in the industry, including but not limited to AR/VR, Big Data Analytics, and IoT.

Over the past few years the technology has created a benchmark for user expectations in regards to the usage demands of AI. Businesses have also been comprehending the gravity of the times, and have actively started looking for new ways to enhance their user experience, with AI-powered personalisation. As a result the majority of applications we use in our everyday lives, have already been launched with AI and ML algorithms,so that through their learned behaviour they can enrich the user experience with deep predictive insights. Additionally, businesses are leveraging data collected from online and offline POS, to strategically improve their market services and supply chain management, thanks to AI.

It is all these predictable and rather feasible improvements in the technology, that have led Gartner to publish in its latest report, that in 2018 the world’s biggest 200 conglomerates will all be integrating with AI and big data analytics.

How AI is Redefining Mobile Apps / The AI Disruption in Mobile Apps

Mobile Apps with AI

The most prominent mediums through which both customers and businesses are making use of AI are mobile apps. Apps like Lola that creates travel plans using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Natural Language Generation (NLG), and HealthTap that refines your health-related research using essential parameters like weight, age and past medical history, are some of the many apps whose very foundation is laid on AI. Furthermore other popular apps like Facebook, LinkedIn, Amazon, eBay, and simple messaging apps are also using AI to better their user experience, by understanding the user’s preferences and making predictions on that basis.

It is this dedication towards enhanced user experience by the subjective understanding of specific users, that is enhancing overall app performances worldwide. So really, AI is connecting customers with brands unlike any other innovation had done before.

However, apps aren’t the only area of mobile AI enhancements. The hardware components, too, are being revolutionised to adapt to the growing use of this big catalyst. Apparently, the chips that are being used in mobile phones right now are rather inefficient to leverage the full potential of AI. This is why conglomerates like Huawei, Samsung and Apple are investing heavily in the development of better chips, that will ‘improve the processing of AI features by 50 percent from today’, as was told by a source from Samsung to the Korea Herald. Some of these chips have already entered the market. Like with iPhone 8 and X, Apple has introduced A11 Bionic chip that with its dual cores can effectively process 600 operations per second, making it highly efficient for the activities like face ID recognition and AR.

So indeed, AI is no longer just a part of Smartphone world. It has now become the significant component that is gradually revolutionizing the entire sphere with the sheer power of its effectiveness and relevancy in present times.
